Project description

Linked to the IPY Biodiversity and Iceberg Scouring in the Western Ross Sea (BIS) project. Examines the ice scour impact with changes in biodiversity, benthic community structure, and ecological functioning in Antarctica. It is also linked to an Environmental, Biological and Ecological Studies in Antarctica (EBESA), an international collaborative study of the effects of climate and environmental changes, and the impact of anthropogenic contaminants in organisms and ecosystems of Northern Victoria Land, Antarctic Peninsula, South Shetland Islands and Patagonia.

Gear description

Requires oceanographic ship, research vessel, diving equipment, ROV video and scuba diving facilities, splash camera, dredge, multibeam and sidescan sonar, and helicopter.
